Who else has a difficult time trying not to slip back into your old ways? I look at relationships as "humiliation rituals" now; The matching outfits, the constant picture taking, the having to perform and pay (drinks, dates, concerts, trips, etc.) and so on. But, somehow, I want to participate in it, even though I have more self-respect and dignity for myself, and I don't want to go through the headache.
